The 43rd annual Southern African Transport Conference 2025

  • satc webinars 2020

After much deliberation the Directors and Organising Committee have made the decision not to go ahead as planned with the 39th annual Southern African Transport Conference and Exhibition.

The SATC has always served as a forum to debate current transport related issues and we plan to remain doing just that.

The impact of Covid-19 on freight and logistics

Covid-19 is disrupting business worldwide, and freight and logistics are the backbone of all industries. The only way to properly plan for business during the pandemic, and even after it has subsided, is to share experiences, gather as much relevant knowledge, and information as possible.

Following our successful June webinar on the impact of Covid-19 on sustainable transport and mobility, the Southern African Transport Conference (SATC), together with the International Road Federation brings you another thought provoking webinar. Please join us on 12 August 2020 as we discuss:

In South Africa August is marked as "women's month" because 9 August is Women's Day. As we celebrate women during the month of August, the SATC would like to acknowledge the achievements of one of our keynote speakers, Portia Derby, who has held several executive positions in the transport sector.

  • KEY TAKEOUTS

  • What are the challenges facing the freight and logistics sector?
  • What steps need to be taken to overcome these challenges?
  • What type of leadership is needed?
  • Which transport innovations can help?
  • How to ensure the continuous assessment, optimisation and monitoring of the impact of Covid-19?
  • How can risk be mitigated?
  • What are the solutions to the huge delays at borders?
  • What is the impact of loss of business as freight is channelled via alternative routes that may become future permanent routes?
